Custom Design Studio
Anthony Jewelers has always been well known for its custom design capabilities. With the skill and artistry of its namesake, Anthony and Nick, can effortlessly take you on the journey from your initial idea to a tangible heirloom custom designed piece. Whether you want to incorporate materials from an older piece with sentimental value or start from scratch, we can produce the design you envision. The process usually takes two to three weeks, depending on the complexity of the design, and begins with an initial creative design appointment with our owners and designers, Nick and Anthony Fratto. Each finished piece will truly be a unique one-of-a-kind design.
We invite you to begin brainstorming now on the piece you would like us to design and create for you. In the meantime, please enjoy some photos of spectacular designs we have made for customers previously:
Engraving
Engraving is the practice of incising a design on to a hard, usually flat surface, by cutting grooves into it. The result may be a decorated object in itself, as when silver, gold, platinum, or paladium are engraved.
Below, we offer our opinions about each font. There are many to choose from and the choice is yours.
Miniature Script:
Miniature Script is a nice script font that will work on any application. However, it can become hard to read if you require a lot of text in a small area, if so, Regular Block or Double Line Century might be a better choice. Even though we offer it on Medical Bracelets, it's not the best choice. The other choices are a lot easier to read if you are in a hurry, especially if it is a lot of text.
Double Line Script:
Double Line Script is not a good choice for all caps or if you require more text than the limits on each page. If either of these requirements arise, you might want to consider Miniature Script.
Cursive:
Cursive is a terrible choice for all caps, if you choose it you will not be satisfied. It also takes up a lot of space, so it's not a good choice if you require a lot of text.
Regular Block:
Regular Block is a nice font that will work on any application. It's a nice font for a lot of text as it is easy to read.
Roman:
Roman is a nice font for a name, initials, or date application on any item. It's not a good choice for sayings as it only comes in all caps.
Old English:
All we can say about Old English is, we offer it, we hate it, but for some reason people order it. Usually, only the person wearing it knows what it says, because it's hard to read, especially if words are in all caps. It does look good as initials.
Interlocking Monogram:
Notice: Monograms are for initials only and remember that they are usually done with the last name initial in the middle. When placing an order, please enter the initials exactly as you want them to appear on the piece.
Circle Monogram:
Notice: Monograms are for initials only and remember that they are usually done with the last name initial in the middle. When placing an order, please enter the initials exactly as you want them to appear on the piece.
Double Line Block:
Double Line Block is a nice font, especially for males, it has an athletic appearance. It does come in upper and lower case, though the lower case is exactly like the upper case only smaller.
IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER WHEN ENGRAVING:
When you have a limited amount of space to put a certain amount of text, the more text, the smaller it has to be. Notice the dates below. All four say the same thing. Actually less is more, when it comes to engraving.

PRIVATE JEWELRY INSURANCE, AN IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE.
Insuring jewelry on your homeowners' policy is not always the
best choice and it's not your only option. Homeowners' policies
are designed to insure homes, not jewelry. If a treasured piece
of jewelry is lost, your homeowners' policy may require you to
use a jeweler you don't know. In these instances, the replacement
may not match the standards and quality of the original piece,
leaving you heartbroken over your loss and disappointed with the
replacement.
GEMSHIELD, A PRACTICAL CHOICE FOR PEACE OF MIND.
To provide your jewelry with the proper insurance, we've developed
GemShield. GemShield is a program which provides you with
worldwide protection and peace of mind. If a loss occurs, you can
feel confident you will be working with your jeweler to replace the
item to your complete satisfaction.
COVERAGE YOU CAN COUNT ON.
GemShield is a jewelry replacement program. If you incur a loss,
your jewelry will be replaced with a piece of like kind and quality
from the participating jeweler who originally sold you the item.
Other GemShield benefits:
- GemShield provides worldwide coverage.
- GemShield covers mysterious disappearance losses.
SMART SUGGESTIONS FOR LOSS PREVENTION.
In compliance with GemShield 's coverage policy, you
are advised to have an annual inspection of your jewelry.
Because your jeweler is an expert, he/she should be able
to alert you to any loose prongs or other compromises which
may prevent a loss.
Keep your jewelry out of sight or in a safe place when
you are not wearing it.
Layaway
Layaway accounts are set up with a deposit of 20% and four monthly payments of 20% each. Layaway accounts are interest free for the term of four months. Any deposits on layaways that are not picked up (or if the layaway is canceled), will be kept on account as a store credit which may be used for future purchases.
Pearl Stringing
Pearls have always been, and continue to be, a staple in every jewelry wardrobe. Our pearl and bead stringer is GIA trained and is one of the best in the business. She has been doing pearl and bead restringing for over five years. She is a master beader that finds satisfaction in completing a beautiful necklace.
We charge by the inch but these other factors will affect price:
Supplying extra beads
Supplying catches
Supplying spacers
Knotted strands, which are highly recommended, are more expensive than unknotted strands.
All of our repairs come with a one year warranty.
Rhodium Plating
Rhodium, a precious metal, is a member of the platinum family. Rhodium electroplating is used, especially on jewelry, to provide a surface that will resist scratches and tarnish. Rhodium plating, commonly called "dipping," leaves jewelry with a bright, white, and reflective appearance.
Rhodium plating is most often found on white gold. The term white gold is something of a misnomer. Gold is actually yellow, what jewelers call white gold today is an alloy (mixture) of gold and a white metal usually nickel, silver, or palladium (another member of the platinum family). Metals known as white are actually more of a gray color, so white gold has a yellowish cast. The higher the karat (percentage of gold), the more gold there is in the alloy, the more yellow the cast appears. Since the wearer of white gold is looking for a bright white look, a very thin layer of rhodium electroplating is used to make that jewelry shine. Rhodium will not tarnish or discolor, and since it is a harder substance, it is much less likely to get scratched.
It is important to be aware that rhodium plating does not last forever. The plating on something that takes a lot of wear, like a wedding ring, can wear away in as little as four to six months, while a necklace or pin that is worn less frequently or comes in less contact with your skin or the elements can keep its plating for ten or more years. You can tell when the plating is wearing away by the look of the piece; the area without the plating will show the yellowish color of the original white gold. Discoloration can also occur on the unplated areas, and in some rare instances, your skin will have a slight reddening reaction to the exposed alloy.
In that case, a quick trip to the jeweler’s is all it takes to bring your piece back to life. Most jewelry items can be easily replated, although replating a two-toned piece will be more expensive because the work needs to be done by hand. Replating will not fill in dents, dings and scratches, it will only make them brighter and more noticeable! Make sure your jeweler is planning on cleaning and polishing your jewelry before it is replated. The smoother the piece is to start with, the better the effect you will get from the replating process.
Sometimes, platinum or silver jewelry is rhodium-plated. In the case of platinum, it is because rhodium is a bit brighter than platinum, so it is used to enhance the shine. For silver, it is a little bit different. Silver is actually more reflective (shinier) than rhodium, but silver is also a much softer metal, and can be scratched very easily. So the owner of a rhodium-plated silver piece is trading a small bit of shine for a longer, scratch-free life.
When the plating begins to wear away from a platinum or silver piece, it will be much less noticeable “the color difference is not as great, because the metal underneath will appear to be gray, not yellowish. Silver can tarnish, but platinum won’t, and neither sterling silver nor platinum will cause a skin reaction if exposed. In this case, have the item replated when the look of it is bothersome.
